Wonderful, you speak so well Janet. Well done.

Just two points though -
You said you weren't allowed to talk about politics ..... but you did. I think there are just certain subjects that one doesn't mention around here.
I know you didn't have time for it anyway but...... the removal from office for corrupt practices of the Mayor of one of the most affluent councils in Spain is massive news; not least because it is part of a larger judicial campaign that has managed to avoid one of the biggest barefaced administrative robberies of the ordinary citizen attempted in this corrupt country (PGO). It has been largely ignored and played down by the media here for obvious reasons. The people behind the prosecution have had death threats and had their cars damaged.
This is very positive news for Spain as a whole and the future of us all. Bermudez isn't the only Robin Hood, it's just that we are allowed to talk about him.
I'm not saying you should make a stand, but you did imply that that particular political story would be censored. It is just sad that we live in a place where media manipulation is accepted as a norm.

The other point is linguistic.
I love documenting the local words that get adopted by the foreign community here, a pet hobby of mine.
We happily chat about "not forgetting to take the escritura", "keep the factura" , "he's parked by the basura", "you'll get denounced" and one of my favourites because it illuminates the innate flexibility of the English language - "he's had his car grua'ed away" Many people adopt these words and forget that they make no sense to newcomers or visitors.
I would put the word "Ayuntamiento" in this group.
Not at all trying to criticize your marvelous radio presence, it's just that I feel that the use of ayuntamiento instead of, say, "council" excludes a lot of English speakers that don't have a fairly comprehensive knowledge of life on the island.
It is in fact a word I often use during my set explanation of Spanish pronunciation. It's a perfect example because it is everybody's "I can't say that word" word, although lot's of people have seen it written down.

I remain an avid Janet fan and look forward to hearing your next broadcast.

Whilst I agree with your sentiments about corruption here. I have to say though that it's small fry when compared to Operation 'Malaya'. The massive corruption trial now going on in Marbella, and being covered by the press and TV. That investigation and trial, that's still going on, has taken over 10 years to my knowledge to get anywhere near finding guilt. So it's early days for your story Prof. As I wrote on another post Franco is alive and still in control of Spain.

On your second point I had to laugh as the wife and I do it all the time!! ;) Although I do try not to 'mix and match' when posting here.
