I'm not saying you should make a stand, but you did imply that that particular political story would be censored. It is just sad that we live in a place where media manipulation is accepted as a norm.
I think the problem is specifically that it's a local authority radio station ... so most things needed to be Adeje focused, and negative local politics couldn't really be raised for the next door municipal neighbour ...

It wasn't my show anyway, and it's not for guests to make a stand ...

I agree that it's massive news though, and when it comes to my own site, I've covered it!

I would put the word "Ayuntamiento" in this group.
Not at all trying to criticize your marvelous radio presence, it's just that I feel that the use of ayuntamiento instead of, say, "council" excludes a lot of English speakers that don't have a fairly comprehensive knowledge of life on the island.
I'm not sure I'm following you here. If Ayuntamiento is in the group of words that all English know, why does it exclude .....  ?? :undecided:

Ah ... I'd question, though, how many newcomers or visitors would be listening to a local station .... at least of those who couldn't work out what I'd meant ...

have to be careful now otherwise I'll be having to apologise like the BBC for calling people with IQs lower than official idiot level "carrots" .....

::)  :D

Nova

I don't have to be careful and I would argue that carrots are more intelligent than some people  :toothygrin:

I also agree that visitors and tourists are unlikely to be listening to a local Adeje radio station.  I imagine this station's main audience is residents who, while they may not be able to pronounce "ayuntamiento", know very well what one is  :tiphat:
If you are always trying to be normal, you will never know amazing.

That is just a typically biased vegetarian comment.

It's always "Where's the mando?" in my house.

.... We happily chat about "not forgetting to take the escritura", "keep the factura" , "he's parked by the basura", "you'll get denounced" and one of my favourites because .... "he's had his car grua'ed away"

I love these examples as I'm sure many of us now use these or similar without even thinking.

Personally I don't think that a fairly comprehensive knowledge of life on the island is required to know what 'ayuntamiento' means.
