Aena has announced that it has abolished the first half hour's free parking in all Canarian airports. The measure came into force on 1 October. Aena has been criticized for the decision by the socialist PSOE, who argue it's a new attack on the pockets of Canarians; the party has asked for a meeting to discuss the issue, but from now on, a stay of even a few minutes will be charged. I have a saying 'where there's a charge there's a way of getting round it' In this case we keep our good byes short and just drop our guests off at the drop off point (which I assume there is still no charge) When picking up we wait at home until the flight has landed and then make our way. It takes about 30 min to get to the airport and by that time our guests are (up to now) waiting at the drop off point.
No waiting no charge ;)

Damn, I depend on that half hour too!  I'm picking my parents up on Saturday!  :gonnagetit:

It's OK you can still park there, I doubt it costs much. I left my car there for a whole weekend once.

The question is - What price the relaxed, smiling greeting/goodbye?

I think I will reserve my complaints until the prices here meet the car parking prices in the UK, and I don't just mean the airports.

I've noticed car park prices go up significantly over the last year or so, but they're still nowhere near (around a third) of what I used to pay in Leeds!

There are very few pay car park in Santa Cruz. Off the top of my head Court Ingles,  an underground  one under the big fountain on the front and one near the market. I can't think of any more. Loads of free parking if your willing to walk a very short distance.
