Preparations are already underway for this year's Walk for Life, which will be held on Sunday 17 December. Last year, 3,400 walkers and 152 runners took part in the event, going from CC Oasis in Playa de las Américas to the Magma Centre, and raising €17,816 for cancer associations. This year, it will coincide with the creation of a Canarian "Walk for life" Foundation, and there will be a decidedly Christmassy feel to the walk.

For those who don't already know, the walk takes place every December, and this is the 13th year it has been held. It is an event which brings together Spanish cancer charities and support organisations, people living with cancer, their friends and families, those who have lost someone to cancer, and on a wider scale the general public of Adeje and Arona. The start of the walk alternates between Adeje and Arona and ends in the other municipality. It has a dedicated website HERE.

Adeje Ayuntamiento has announced that The Canarian Walk for Life foundation – Carrera por la Vida – has issued its annual calendar which supports the walk itself, now in its 14th year.  For this year's calendar, the Igualmente Produce company, with director Ángel Pérez at the helm, has brought together 12 professional photographers, one for each month, who have each donated their own particular vision to illuminate the stories of different individuals affected by breast cancer. Each photograph reflects a unique moment, a slice of time that has a message, that unites art and hope.

Fashion photographers such as Edgar Magdalena, Beatrix Molnar and Williams Rodríguez, other professionals including the Milimalimón group, Yeray Cruz and Alberto Mahtani,  Joaquín Ponce de León, Laura Swing, Juanmi Alemany and press photographers Carol Alexander and Abraham Aránega and professor Concetta Rizza have also used their cameras to capture special seconds in time reflection how individuals are dealing with and beating cancer.

The production was a totally voluntary affair, with even printing costs sponsored by Finca Canarias Aloe Vera, Canaragua, Farmacia Arona, Carolina Boix, Con Líneas, El Alce and Valora, and so every cent of the €6 cost will go towards Walk for Life, helping to raise awareness about the importance of early detection as well as contributing towards meeting the needs of all those directly and indirectly affected by cancer. The calendar can be found at various outlets, including the Pink Room in Adeje and Carolina Boix shoe shops.
