Canarian road haulage transporters, who went on strike in April (see HERE), are on strike again today. In April, however, it was a one-day affair; now, it's indefinite.  The hauliers say they are increasing the pressure after a lack of engagement from the Government to the sector's complaints about the elimination of tachographs, school bus budget cuts, fuel costs and ITV requirements. If the 12th April is anything to go by, the effects of the strike won't take long to be noticed.

President of the Asociación de Transportistas, Ignacio de la Paz, said that the strike will last at least until the 15th, when there will be a further meeting to assess the action, but that without any movement on the part of the Canarian Government, it would last "as long as necessary".  For today only, the strike will honour perishables goods and pharmacy deliveries, as well as airport transfers and what he called regular public services. Touristic excursions, however, are off, and the measures will intensify further over the next few days to the point, even, that supermarkets will start noticing shortages of supplies in just a couple of days. They've called it off less than 24 hours after it started, apart from hauliers in La Palma. Unions say that they're prepared to give the Government a few days to fulfill their promises and start talking, but that strike action would resume if nothing happened.

So what's prompted that?  Who's sleeping with whom?
If you are always trying to be normal, you will never know amazing.
