The actual news is that there's a new Outlet centre in Adeje (full details HERE), but really what I don't understand is the concept of an outlet centre. The new place has a wide range of "shops", all branded like Marypaz, Guess, Encuentro, Punto Roma ... but to me that just makes it identical to all the other commercial centres or malls we have here!

This is being trumpeted as Tenerife's FIRST EVER OUTLET CENTRE! And yet wiki tells me that an outlet centre is a place where manufacturers sell direct to the public ... yes, OK, but the shops in the new Outlet Centre are no different to those in the other malls! so doesn't that make those malls outlet centres? And yet they're commercial centres ...

Does anyone know the difference?

Thank god! I thought it was just me that had no idea what an Outlet Centre was.  :giggle:
[countdown=01,06,2021,13,30][/countdown] until I return to Tenerife!

Usually an outlet means that the shop sells over-runs, discounted goods, etc, which may be sold in their ordinary store, but are cheaper in the outlet.

And ends of lines, slightly defective products, etc.

I love outlet centres!  I am excited and I am going!  As soon as it cools down a bit.

I used to like going to the one in Bicester.  This one should be even nicer as it's in Tenerife.

Nova

In the outlet stores I've been to in the UK there was more rummaging required because things were more mixed up in the displays, and there were always so many people...  I'd rather pay twice the price and buy online from the comfort of my own home.
If you are always trying to be normal, you will never know amazing.

I always have to rummage, and among crowds, in the shops anyway! :scowl:

In an outlet centre, do they not sell goods cheaper than in the Malls :undecided:

Janet

yes, that's what Marion and Myrtle suggest above, at least, and it makes sense.

I've been to the outlet centre twice already this week, the last time with @Janet.  We judged it to be far more practical than Siam Mall.  It is a nice place to shop.

@Nova and @Kingbaker will be delighted to know they needn't go to Debenhams to buy PJs!  You can get them at the outlet mall for 7.99€.
