El Profesor

This shows all the signs of being rather good. I saw them rehearsing the other day. It's this evening in the Infanta Leonor, Los Cristianos.
Anniversary concert with special invited conductor, (the usual one will be on the tuba).
I think it'll be really worth seeing.

Maybe, but will it be worth listening to? To me that is a tad more important. In true Canarian style, they don't say what music they are playing. They never do. Who the hell would care? Do they know? Are they all playing the same thing?

This must be the only country in the universe which advertises a concert without saying what the fuck they are playing.

It's the local brass band, with local kids in it. And the standard is very good. But if you feel like that don't tell your friends.

There is an eclectic mix of paso dobles, popular film soundtracks and modern classical. They have an invited conductor and I know the house conductor is going to play "Czardas" on the tuba! No mean feat.

I'm not doubting the standard for one minute - but I would never bother to tell somebody about a concert if I didn't know what the programme was, and I just can't understand this mentality that it doesn't actually matter.  :017:
