QuoteA friend shared it on FB. She lives in PSJ and said they put up the no parking signs in anticipation of the rain yesterday, but people moved them so they could park.

Emergency services pic of a track today in El Hierro after their rains ... it's closed to traffic, they say. No shit Sherlock! :D

yes, blown out as quickly as it blew in, but we still have the cloudy remnants of the system ...

The thunder and lightening and rain were amazing on early Sunday morning. I wears worried our flight wouldn't be able to take off yesterday lunchtime but we managed fine. It was a bit bumpy on the way home but nothing too bad.

06:10 exactly, these guys are getting better.

There still a little room for improvement, it was 10 minutes late.

I've always found them really accurate for timing, but today they are coming in for some serious stick for underestimating the amount of water that this weather system was going to dump. In Santa Cruz, apparently, it was ten times what was forecast, and the second heaviest downpour on record, being beaten only by the storm in 2002 (which we were here to see and which was truly terrifying, knocking Delta into a cocked hat in terms of one particular torrential "shower") ...

We have a fountain in the centre court yard of the house. Its about one meter sq. and a flat tiled bottom. I cleaned it the other week but didn't bother filling it, so until Sunday its been empty. Just out of interest I just measured the rain water its collected since the start of the storm and its 96mm.

Here its 19deg cloudy damp with very light showers.

Janet

yes. muggy is the word here, I think. We have 20º but cloud and a bit of wind ... it's not finished yet, I think!

Janet

Forecasters say that as the storm moves away, it will be turning to bring winds in fron the south east, and this in turn will bring hot air from the Sahara. We are going to have a mini heatwave tomorrow, they say, with temperatures in the high 20ºs or even around the 30º mark, higher in the medianías where they could reach 34ºC. As with the rain, the north east Anaga area is expected to be worst affected. Winds are forecast to be around 50km/h. As always with calimas, anyone with respiratory conditions should take extra care.  JA
