It's just started raining

and a major band up here ... we have thick white-out cloud so we're inside the rain!

yes we had 3 minutes of rain here also in Las Galettas .
Yust enouf to make the plants a bit wet .
We really could use a dounpour instead of these trickles  .

elsewhere has had downpours. The problem with living down on the coast is that there will often be one sheltered area which doesn't get rain. It's been chucking it down in the north and it's still raining steadily in the west, at least above the coastal strip.

This evening the Canarian Government has issued an alert for rains, torrential at times, over the next day or so as the polar front continues its descent to these islands. The main rain is expected over the next 48 hours, and the alert becomes active at midnight tonight. The Government has also reiterated its advice to the public, which is always on THIS page, on how to stay safe in storms and heavy rain. And just to reiterate, there is no official announcement on schools closing, so they remain open.

Ok, we have torrential rain here!!    I don't know how long it will last but right now I think it's definitely classed as torrential

no ... this is lasting a week. There are bands and bands of this stuff.

It's a weather system, with various fronts, as in this image ... when one passes it seems lovely and clear but another is on its way.
