This Christmas is already underway with Adeje's announcement of its Christmas and New Year 2013-14 programme of events. These start this Friday, 29 November. with the Christmas market, on Friday 29 November through to Sunday 1 December, in the car park outside the music school in Las Torres. This is on the fountain roundabout just down the road from Mercadona. On the 29th, too, the traditional Belén (nativity) will be opened at 6pm in the Adeje music school itself. For the rest of the programme, see HERE, and I'll post other local programmes as they become available.

Arona has now also announced its calendar of pasacalles – musical parades through the streets – for Christmas. As the poster above shows, these will start tomorrow, 18 December, in Playa de las Américas, and end on Monday 23 December in Los Cristianos. JA

There will be New Year's Eve celebrations throughout Tenerife, one of the foremost being in the Plaza de San Sebastián in La Caleta, Adeje. Most other towns, though, will themselves have music and dance from around 10.30 pm to welcome in 2014, with the lucky grapes and champagne often provided at midnight as the chimes of church bells ring out. And, of course, there'll be the fireworks at midnight! I'll post posters whenever I see them, but for the moment, here is Arona's for Los Cristianos' New Year's Eve party.

Granadilla is laying on free buses within the municipality for transport to and from one of south Tenerife's biggest New Year's parties – El Médano, of course. Times and routes are detailed in the poster above. JA

Arafo's circus-themed Fin de Año fiesta will be set in a big-top marquee in the town's Plaza San Juan Degollado. From 11pm,  entry free. Sounds fun!
