Once again the Tenerife terrain has won and my hiking shoes are shot.  Having taken a tumble last week because of it, I am looking for new shoes.  I have tried Intersport in Las Chafiras as well as another place there which I think is called base deportes or something with no luck.  I could go to Tenerife Outdoors in Granadilla but I'd like to find some place closer if possible.

Complicating factor:  I have feet the size of snowshoes so some place selling petite little shoes is of no use.

So, any ideas on a store in the south which sells hiking shoes?

Perikles

Timberland, which oddly is only 100 metres from an opthalmologist

Excellent.  Perhaps some kind person will point me in the right direction on Monday.

Still need suggestions for a store selling hiking shoes.

Timberland had a very suitable pair, marked down from about 110€ to 61€, in one size too small and one size too large.  So no dice.

All suggestions gratefully received!

Nova

Deportes Venezuela in Las Galletas sell hiking boots if you happen to be over this way.  They're only a small shop but stock quite a range of footwear and sizes.  I got my size 41 sea shoes from there.
If you are always trying to be normal, you will never know amazing.

Don't they recomend thik socks for hiking ? Of course here its too hot . . . . .>:(

Socks are no problem.  I've got loads and can add and subtract them.  The problem is well-fitting shoes when you are a woman with feet the size of an elephant, and there is a very short window of time in which to buy them yearly.  At this time of year, the sales are on, and all they have left are extremely small or large shoes.  Same in men's which is what I was trying on earlier.

Well, I ended up back at Tenerife Outdoor in Granadilla.  I found a pair of Salomon's with a very good sole for 69€, which I got for 62€ because of the special Myrtle discount.  Result!

Blimey I know you didn't trust the Merc. But hiking boots!!!. You now have a Honda. Just playing safe are you??

Nope Del, have to take the dingbats up the mountain each and every single day, and as the guy who helped me with the last pair of boots said, "these mountains EAT shoes".  And they do.  The ones I am wearing now (and will stop tomorrow) I put on 8th of October last year, and are more than literally falling apart.  I have taken a tumble, and nearly more, because the soles are gone.  Last tumble 2 1/2 weeks ago gave me many bruises and the skin is still healing on my knee and hands.

So the new boots start tomorrow and in 6 months I will look to replace them.

BTW the Honda was very zippy on the way to Granadilla and back.  Love it!
