Guía de Isora will be holding a Crafts Fair in the Plaza Nuestra Señora de la Luz in front of the church on Sunday 8 September between 10am and 6pm. There will be loads of local arts and crafts, and foods, on display and for purchase. These are always great fun, and Guía de Isora is a lovely old town, so this is definitely one not to be missed. Janet, Perikles, OH and I went to the Feria this afternoon.  We were bananas about it.     We looked at many fine overpriced objets which we did not buy.  We had a beer.  We then went through the mercado agrotradicional which had lovely local honeys, biscuits, mojos and produce.

One of the stands was run by the girl who runs the till at the co-op where I buy the fruits and veggies every week.  I stopped to say hello.  We saw her and her colleague wielding a curved banana knife, cutting off bunches which they handed to people who just.... walked away.  So after out chat she handed me a bunch and we said thank you and that was that.  We figure we got 5kg of bananas; there were 24.  We ate 4 which leaves 20.  We split those in half by household and man do we have a lot of bananas.

So you can see the fine quality and quantity of our bananas, here's Perikles demonstrating them and the four we already ate.

and they taste like bananas ... not the too-sweet almost-rotten platanos they sell in the shops ...

so either this is how really fresh platanos are ... or they're bananas ...
