It was all the rage in the UK in the 70s and 80s, and is still a highly regarded craft in many areas, not least the Canaries, where traditional pottery commands respect and good prices. And now there's a Canarian pottery workshop, for beginners, in the Adeje Cultural Centre, between 13 and 16 May, and 20 to 23 May, between 5 and 7pm. Inscription is free, but requires prior registration on the course: to do this, ring 922 756 246. JA

Just where exactly sells this kind of article? I really struggle to find anything worth buying when i'm there. Our house is overflowing with plastic dolphin paperweights.  ::)

Well there are artisan-crafts places in many parts, but those in the main tourist areas can be pretty tatty. Do you remember when you and I went to Masca, though, we stopped off at a large shop just at the end of Guía de Isora? They have some lovely such pottery in there. And the visitor centre up Teide has some lovely pieces too.

cinnamon

also the one in vilaflor, on the left hand side when you drive into the village coming from arona. :)
after all this time?... always

I remember it. I'd love to go in there with about a grand in my pocket. Some lovely items.

Did you buy the plain variety or the deluxe variety with a thermometer?  And have you considered snow globes with dolphins or perhaps turtles?
