Guía de Isora is holding  its third tapas route, Tapeando Isora, with tapas and wine, beer or water for just €2.50. There are also prizes on offer for those who get ten stamps from the establishments taking part: the stamps are to be put on cards available from participating establishments, or in the Tourist Information Offices in Guía de Isora, Playa San Juan and Alcalá .

Tapeando Isora is being held between 28 March and 21 April, and is intended to promote the hospitality sector, and bring Isoran cuisine to a wider audience. There are 27 establishments taking part: for a complete list, and for further information about the event, please see my website for a link (for some reason it just won't insert here.

FANTASTIC!!!!

They didn't do it last year which was a real shame. We love this one and plan to take full advantage of it this year.  Recommend you all do the same.

We hit four establishments tonight, three in Alcalá and one in Aguadulce.

The first one didn't even know they were participating; well, that was the Scottish side of the house.  When the Spanish owner married to the Scottish woman came in, they got on board enough to prepare a most excellent tapa served on a piece of grey slate:  bread, sheep's cheese that tastes like parmesan, honey (dribbling out of a glass which stuck to the plate and came with a spoon) and coffee powder.  TO DIE FOR.  Flor de Chasna to go with it.

Second one was a carpaccio of pulpo served on bread with pickled cabbage and a piece of potato - sounds weird but was most enjoyable.

Third one was at a place that does veggie food and it was pimienta asada, thin strips of calabcín, lettuce, strips of hard boiled egg, and the most delicious green ali-oli.

Fourth one was again on bread:  guacamole topped with fried seafood, pine nuts and a balsamic vinegar.

That's four of 27 down, 23 to go.........

Plus it was a cheap evening:  10€ per person.

Myrtle, the link in my OP isn't working any more, or it is but it goes to an error page.  ::)

Do you have a complete list of participating establishments?

edit: found an online version different to that link. It's HERE:tiphat:

I got to it on guiadeisora.es, clicking on "III ruta de la tapa 'Tapeando Isora'" link on the front page.  Some of the text is a big more legible than on the pdf.

Knocked off another four establishments in Guía tonight.

In the Pizzería we had a mini pizza with thin pitta like bread, topped with tomato sauce and slathered in smoked goat's cheese and mojo de cilantro.  Really, you can't beat it.

Next, Taberna El Escondite which produce a montadito covered in breaded fried seta with mechado, accompanied by bean sprouts and pimentón dulce.  Delicious.  Found out they do pizzas, and cheaper than the pizzería.

Third, another pizzería, Cahora.  Salpicón de bonito con papas arrugadas.  Well, three cheers for the bonito - must have been about 100g.  The papas were not arrugadas but a boiled potato with mojo, and it was served with bread.  Value for money big time.  Remember we are paying 2.50€ for a glass of wine (or beer or water) and a tapa, per person.

Last,  El Casino a/k/a Los 5 Sentidos.  They offered barquito de pulpo con aromas del monte.  Another tapa on bread but it was quite nice.  Good news:  they do a Sunday brunch from 0930-1200, a buffet costing 4€.  They showed us the rest of the establishment, which is used for weddings, baptisms, etc.  Bad news:  I got short changed from a 10€ note:  4 coins in return, one of which is a venezuelan 1 bolívar coin.  OH thinks we should give them the benefit of the doubt.  I'm reserving judgement.

Another one wasn't open so we called it quits for the evening.

Still recommend la ruta de tapas de Guía and hope friends will join us next time.

So el Casino is a no no .
There is no benefit of doubt its cheating and it happens a lot if you don't watch youre change or bill here in Tenerife .

After another long day which involved going to the dentist in Santa Cruz yet again, we've decided to go tapeando in San Juan tonight.  I plan to wear my new 12€ dress.  No, Janet, not the one you're thinking of; I have another brand new 12€ dress.  Also bought a 2.95€ dress.  But that's for a different thread.

I will be counting and examining my change.

Last night's route was planned geographically, not logically according to food on offer.  So we sort of had a main dish followed by a starter followed by a main dish followed by a starter.

At Puesta del Sol, the first stop, we had stuffed cabbage, the stuffing being mince, and it was all topped off with deliciously piquant sauce.  It was served with bread. You cannot beat this with a glass of wine for 2.50€.

Next stop, the Hacienda Linares, a/k/a the Mexican in San Juan.  Wow - just imagine two pieces of chorizo on a piece of bread, topped with a fried quail's egg, topped with a few slices of roasted pepper and sauce.  I had to go wash my hands after polishing this one off as I had yoke running down my hand.  Delicious.  Like at a few other places, the chef served the tapas personally, which is quite a nice touch as then they get feedback from their delighted customers.

After a few wrong turns we arrived at the Ali Babá, where they were out of the tapa for the ruta.  However, we were given a bit of meat and potato stew with bread, which we duly polished off, and enjoyed.

Last one was the Tasca Canaria, which is on the corner near the plaza.  We've walked past many times so it was a good opportunity to go inside.  The staff were very friendly and served us croquetas de carne mechada, again with bread.  Very very nice.

We were fuller after this trip than any of the others and no less delighted with it.

And once again the last of the big spenders spent 10€ per person for a fun and interesting evening.

We've now done 12 of the 27 establishments.

This evening we decided to take in the two participating establishments in Tejina before dinner.

First stop:  Cafetería Vanessa.  The tapa was croquetas de morcilla, three per person.  Wow - sweet and filling.  The beer barely touched sides on the way down.  Luckily it was pleasantly cool inside.

Then on to Las Goteras where we were stunned by half a bubango, about 13-14cm, stuffed with a mince mixture and topped with cheese.  This was accompanied by crusty bread with a chorizo spread.  It was enormous!  Tasty too.

We came home and I put the dinner fixings away.  We are not hungry any more.

So we accomplished 14 of the 27 participating establishments.  Not bad going.  I hope they do this again next year and we'll try harder to get more in.
