"The Great Spanish Crash" documentary on BBC2

For anyone interested in the background to Spain's current economic catastrophe, there's a programme called The Great Spanish Crash on BBC2 this evening at 7 o'clock.

One write-up says:

Quote
Investigative documentary series. Paul Mason travels to Spain to examine how a once thriving economy became the latest casualty of the Eurozone crisis. Mason reveals how the transition to democracy after Franco's dictatorship created a financial and political system that left the country vulnerable to catastrophe when the world economic crisis struck in 2008. One of the keenest advocates of the European single currency, Spain is now the biggest victim of the Eurozone crash with youth unemployment running at more than 50%. With interviews with key players, including former prime minister Felipe Gonzalez and European commissioner Joaquin Almunia, Mason reveals how Spain's credit and construction boom collapsed, leaving millions facing poverty and politicians still bickering about a potential bail out.

It clashes with Strictly's result and the Sports Personality of the Year, but perhaps a tad more important ... or relevant, anyway .....

It was good but nothing that we didn't already know. The thing is even if Spain, Greece, Portugal and Ireland are saved. Bulgaria, Romania, Latvia, Lithuania and all the rest are just waiting in the wings. In the mean time I weep for Spain.
