Here is a report saying they are planning to give rights of residence to anybody buying a property worth more than 160,000 euros. This is aimed at the Russian and Chinese markets.

I'd argue they pegged it too low and should raise it to around €500K.

Those "land grab" stories did a lot of damage to Spain's reputation among the ignorant, didn't they?

oh yes. And you try telling anyone that this only applies in "Valencia" (in the very general and larger sense ... )
