I thought they had put a halt on this?

But why? If somebody built too close to the coast and deprives others of enjoyment, why not tear their place down?  I hasten to say I have no direct experience but I have seen some places (private) that I think are waaayyy too close to the edge.  I can tell an illegal place in Greece from long off so guess I am translating that to Spain.

They have indeed put a halt on it, but only to some extent. I've posted about it HERE ... the issue is that to get away with it, certain conditions have to apply, and they can't apply just to one building, and would need anyway to comply with certain requirements, like traditional use and style etc ...

I think they put a stop to it because they identified over 100,000 buildings around the Spanish coast line that fell into the 110 meter exclusion zone for buildings. More importantly some of these buildings belong to 'Very important People'

Does anyone know the Atlantida restaurant in Las Galletas?  At the top of La Rambla behind the tourist information office.  Its terrace spills out onto the beach.  I have just been watching the last of its contents being carried away in a big truck, the windows have been removed, and I have been informed that by the end of this week, the Atlantida and the low white building next to it will be demolished.

The move will give me an uninterrupted view of the beach at that end from my balcony, but what a shame!  I have heard locals speak highly of that restaurant and have often seen the residents of the apartments above sunbathing on the roof terrace.  Within a week, the whole building will be just a memory.

We've had a few meals here and they have been excellent.  :)

They're obviously not keeping to the schedule I was told about, but here is the Atlantida today, bricked up and ready for demolition.

Just by looking at the above image, I can say following things:

Your building has pink color/shade in it?

There's a Vodafone Shop/Store in front of your building?

There is a Bar in front of your building?

:cheesy:  :P

The white building is a separate small house which has been bricked up for some time already and is also to be demolished.

You're wrong about the pink, as you can see on my previous picture it's yellow :p

But how on earth can you tell the bar and the Vodafone shop??  :017:
