Bang on the nail Pelinor.
Have you noticed that it is exactly the same bottle of pop if you say "Real Madrid" or "Barcelona". Unfortunately it's for life.

Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse. It would appear that this Monago bloke has been up to his 'Trips' since 1978! Even worse he has something to do with local TV stations where he holds court. So all reports of this scandal are being censored. He can't stop everything naturally but he is doing his best. The arrogance is quite beyond belief.

Happily he didn't count on the employees of the local stations having a mind of their own. So the story hit the fan and protest are planed. I hadn't seen it before but his apology was in front of a very large gathering of the PP they were giving him a bloody standing ovation!!

I love these stories. Canarian government minister claims to be in direct and constant personal touch with founder of museum she was being accused of failing to help. Not a problem, except the founder died 113 years ago. "Only cowards resign" she is famous for saying. So direct lies are just part of the rough and tumble of political life, not matters for principled reaction. These are the people who "govern" us ...

QuoteThe projections contrast sharply with the current economic climate in Spain

Yeah . . . . . it's the administration, stupid.

So why would Canarians vote for someone when they know he's as bent as a dog's hind leg?  :017:
[countdown=01,06,2021,13,30][/countdown] until I return to Tenerife!

I thought the whole idea of going into politics in Spain was to favour family and friends :017:
If ever there is a test for the Spanish to make a stand against corruption this is it. The paper has obviously been stolen for the advantage of the defendants. I cannot believe for one second that there is not a copy. Even if there isn't there seems to be no argument as to its existence. The solution in any, lest say less corrupt country, would be to get the authorizing judge to state that he or she did infact make such order before the court. Problem solved? Sadly I think not, will corruption win yet again, sadly I think so.

... cos he's a nationalist and they prefer to vote for a Canarian party rather than a left or right wing party candidate ... and because they're all the bloody same anyway.

It's like Douglas Adams wrote in Hitchhiker's Guide about a poor flollopping mattress:

QuoteOn its world, the people are people. The leaders are lizards. The people hate the lizards and the lizards rule the people."
"Odd," said Arthur, "I thought you said it was a democracy."
"I did," said Ford. "It is."
"So," said Arthur, hoping he wasn't sounding ridiculously obtuse, "why don't people get rid of the lizards?"
"It honestly doesn't occur to them," said Ford. "They've all got the vote, so they all pretty much assume that the government they've voted in more or less approximates to the government they want."
"You mean they actually vote for the lizards?"
"Oh yes," said Ford with a shrug, "of course."
"But," said Arthur, going for the big one again, "why?"
"Because if they didn't vote for a lizard," said Ford, "the wrong lizard might get in. Got any gin?"

It's bad enough being a people. When you're actually a mattress it's even worse! I'm a mattress ...
