The Canarian Government has today announced that it has handed over the Fonsalia desalination plant to the Tenerife Cabildo. The plant, the fourth major publicly-run desalination installation in Tenerife, has now completed its test phase and is in full operation, and will supply some 70,000 residents along the Guía de Isora and Santiago del Teide coastlines, including Los Gigantes, Playa de la Arena, El Varadero, Cueva del Polvo, Alcalá, Playa de San Juan and Piedra Hincada.

There is information on the other plants HERE.

Hopefully it might improve the water quality we are getting!
