To go or not to go, an easy question to answer as new connection announced with Copenhagen

It wasn't long ago that Ryanair announced a new connection between TFS and the Basque Country and now Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) has announced its own new connection between TFS and Copenhagen. The regular scheduled flights will be on a weekly basis starting on Sunday, 29 October, and additional flights will be available over the Christmas period. Tenerife president Carlos Alonso expressed his delight in a conection that will allow visitors from Denmark, who comprise a rapidly growing market, to travel without needing to buy a package holiday here, and who will therefore be good for Tenerife's tourism economy since they will be more likely to eat in local restaurants, hire cars locally, etc.

It works in reverse for us, too, of course, with now a regular flight to this lovely city, the home of the world famous Little Mermaid, as well as Carlsberg, "probably the best brewery in the world ... "! And who could visit without a day trip just north of the city, to Kronborg Castle, better known as Shakespeare's Elsinore, home of Hamlet! One could almost paraphrase the bard's Prince of Denmark – to go or not to go, that is the question. But that's one question with a very easy answer!

So now they want independent travellers! They should make up their minds!

Anyway, I'm having a beer, not Carlsberg, but Dorada!

I don't think there was ever any suggestion that Tenerife didn't want independent travellers.  They just want them to stay in tourist accommodation  :tiphat:

That's right. They've always valued independent travellers. It's the package tour travellers they're trying to discourage, if anyone, because they tend to stay in the all-inclusives. Independent travellers stay in 5-star hotels or touristic complexes such as Baobab in El Duque, and the new one just short of opening in La Caleta. They play golf, go to spas, spend money ... all outside of the AI hotels.
