Seismic tremor off south Tenerife felt by public

Mostly true, as it happens ... apart from "after fears that an active volcano may erupt." It's also wrong that "La Palma is ... considered the most 'active' in the archipelago" ... that's Gran Canaria, actually!

They're not anticipating an eruption, as is hidden in the comment that "a team is to be sent to La Palma to carry out CO2 profiles and structural studies of Cumbre Vieja". If Cumbre Vieja does anything, it will split and fall because of the effective hot water boiler inside it, odd in terms of the structure of our volcanoes here.

What I'm reading from seismologists and vulcanologists here is that there is absolutely no deformation of the peak so no eruption is considered remotely likely. They are saying it's pretty much unchartered territory, with an "anomaly" that could redefine what is normal for such a volcano, but which might be leading to something. What they're studying is the potential for the slip that they know is coming at some point.

I am just grateful they've called in experts rather than José Bloggos.

Did anyone else feel a tremor at about 3.30am this morning??  I know I watched The Exorcism of Emily Rose yesterday but I can usually tell when something's a dream and I was so sure it was real that I opened my eyes and checked the time.

Ok, so I would have been a bit freaked out if it had been 3:00am exactly  :giggle:  but it was about 3.27am so I decided it was an earthquake and went back to sleep.
If you are always trying to be normal, you will never know amazing.

Krakatoa could go off next door at 03.30 and I wouldn't feel it.  :giggle:
[countdown=01,06,2021,13,30][/countdown] until I return to Tenerife!
