All the apartments  I've  stayed in at Tenerife  have had sprinkler systems throughout.  The one I'm  in at lanzarote doesn't  have any in. The reception, which is a separate  building has them.  Just wondering, aren't  apartments required to have them fitted?

As far as I'm aware, they're not a legal requirement for tourism standards in the Canaries. They are the norm, however, in newer apartments, so it's possible that Tenerife's more extensive development has led to them being more prevalent here.

The specifics in the law governing fire safety for touristic apartments here require sprinkler systems in any areas or buildings "of particular risk" as well as all newly built apartments where the "evacuation height" is over 28m. The law dates to 1997, so anything after that will be covered by it.
