A 48-year-old woman is in hospital with head injuries after being knocked down in Las Chafiras around 8.30pm last evening. The accident happened on the TF65 Los Abrigos-San Miguel road, and emergency services were called out with reports of the incident involving a car in the industrial estate area. Paramedics stabilized her at the scene and then transferred her to Hospiten Sur, where her condition is said to be serious. JA

I'd almost put money on her having been walking in the dark in dark clothes with nothing reflective, on the wrong side of the road not facing traffic.

well, people have to walk on the motorway slip road even to get to a bus stop, there are no crossings, and no pavements. No concession is made to pedestrians there at all, and yet there are shops, factories and warehouses used by the public, and a large residential estate on its doorstep. It's been an accident waiting to happen for years, and a miracle that (still) no-one has died there.

Couldn't agree more.  We have had to walk around there on occasion (when the Merc's been at Victoria) and it is complete nightmare.
