Aren't we confusing things here? I mean Del is talking about the UK, Myrtle is talking about Spain (private) and Janet and Pelinor are talking of Spanish State system.  :017: :017: :017:

Agreed P. I think what the problem or confusion is, whats to stop Myrtle visiting every Chemist in Spain and getting same drugs from every one! Something that Spanish National health users can't do :undecided:

Quote from: Pelinor on Thu 21 May 2015, 15:44I think the prescriptions only last 6 months.

The prescription validity varies, and is specified at the top on the right: Validez hasta: xx/xx/2015, which the doctor can specify. I can get a repeat prescription once per month until that date. This is a tad annoying because they won't hand out another box until right at the end of that month, on the idiotic assumption that you are within walking distance of a chemist so don't need to stock up.

dunno  :017:

Plus if you don't pick it up within a certain time the prescription becomes void, requiring another trip to the doctor to get a new one.

Sorry don't know what the time frame for the pick up is :undecided:

Yes, it is a private prescription.  It is dated, and is the first one I can remember having been dated.  And I agree, what is to stop me from going to every chemist in the land and buying the stuff up then selling it on the street?   (Forgetting for the moment that 100 pills cost 1.98€; not sure what I could save the good people of the island looking for a better bargain on thyroid medication.)

They did not take the bar code and never do on a private prescription.

Seems it's a fault in the system that they can't be arsed closing? What happens in the UK? We used to be in BUPA but never had a private prescription. :undecided:

Why is this a fault? If the drug is harmless why not have the choice to buy any amount?

Well as Myrtle said the box had a full black circle on and it's classed as dangerous. According to the Chemist I spoke to a clear circle is all but safe, half black circle caution and full black circle dangerous. :undecided:

Quote from: Myrtle Hogan-Lance on Thu 21 May 2015, 14:25My prescription has a blank circle.

It was a prescription for "n"-blindness  :great:

Well in my defence I do have dyslexia. I could come up with a million and one excuses, but in this case I have a feeling it's just plain lazy reading on my part! My apologies for that as it goes a long way to explaining why Myrtle was left with the prescription. :-[ :-[ :-[

Janet

I do the same thing all the time ...  :tiphat:
