Access to my house was required when I got it in back home.
[countdown=01,06,2021,13,30][/countdown] until I return to Tenerife!

Apparently so, but as long as it's installed in my complex by the time I get back I can wait a few days for the guys to come round.

I phoned them yesterday and they offered to install it this week so you shouldn't have to wait too long for the actual install once you're back @Nova providing as you say your complex has had the fibre pulled into it.

As per the appointment the engineer arrived today and has installed fibre in our apartment. We're currently getting just under 30Mb download, so more than happy :)

Is the fibre right into the apartment or still using the copper connections internally?

Seems a bit slow, and a very slow "ping". Is it a price point thing, that could deliver much higher speed at a price?

NAH

We only have one option of fibre in our complex and that is what we've signed up to, there is no option to pay more for a faster speed. I believe that almost 30Mb in Tenerife is extremely good and it certainly beats the option of broadband speeds available through the copper phone line.

This morning I received a text message from Movistar to say they're coming to install my fibre optic next Monday morning.  The problem?  I already have my car booked in for its service in Santa Cruz next Monday morning  :banghead:

I'm a complete idiot but since I've had the appointment with Mazda over a week, I've contacted Movistar to change my appointment with them, and of course, whereas Mazda could just have fixed another date with me on the spot, Movistar are going to send me a text message within the next 48-72 hours with a new appointment time.  I wonder how many problems I've just caused myself and whether I'll now ever get my fibre optic....  if anyone knows you don't mess with Movistar, it's me!  :-[ :closet:

My car is desperate for its service though after three months in the garage and this appointment is right on the last minute to get it done on schedule.

So presumably, that's fibre right into your apartment (rather than the nearest junction box) ?

I assume so, since they need access to my apartment to do it.  A friend in Las Galletas had hers installed recently and she said it took them an hour to feed the cables through the rest of the building to get to her apartment on the top floor.  I hope the guys doing mine will be patient as my existing ADSL socket is hidden behind a large cupboard... which supports (and is screwed to) one side of a bridging unit which is screwed to the wall
