It was only yesterday that there were three incidents of bathers in difficulties, one of them fatal (link), and today again emergency services are reporting that a man died around half past eleven this morning after being pulled from the sea at Playa de los GuĂos in Santiago del Teide despite the best efforts of lifeguards and paramedics. Again it was a case of cardiac arrest, a known symptom of cold water shock. Please read my page HERE for information on this. It is difficult to imagine at times that our waters are "cold", but in technical terms of cold water shock, Tenerife's seas are never not "cold". JA
