Erm, why not just block them?  :017:

You can't in Spain. I've googled the problem and found a forum where somebody asks this. He or she gets one response:

QuoteSince I registered my telephone number the nuisance calls have virtually stopped. The only one that I still get from time to time is from the telefonic equivalent of a computer virus, Jazztel, with whom, when I have the time, I amuse myself with a number of different voices and identities.

My record for keeping them on the telephone without answering their questions or giving any information is five and a half minutes... so far

Nova

No, it was 983446100.  Think I'll post on that site - thanks.  I lost my Movistar voicemail when I moved though I've no idea why.  I've just turned my phones back on and all is quiet so far, let's hope it stays that way.

I've tried getting that "how to answer cold-calling" from the video thread, but it has been removed from facebook  :03:

Nova

Oh no!!  I know the one you mean the one with all the f-ing, yes?  Try doing that in Spanish with the same finesse  :D

That forum I found with the question gave a link to Lista Robinson. Can you make sense of it?

Nova

I already have it open in my browser because when I phoned Movistar and complained that the people who phoned knew too much about my Movistar contract, the woman told me about Lista Robinson and said I should register my phone number there to remove it from marketing databases.  The website she actually gave me is this one, which is clearly defunct, so I went searching and found listarobinson.com.  It seems you have to register an account with the site, then according to the FAQ:

So once in we should be able to specify phone numbers, addresses, etc, that companies which cooperate with the service will no longer be able to use for marketing, provided we have no existing relationship with that company.

Sorry if i've missed it but are we talking about a landline or mobile number?

Landline, though because they're sly deceitful bastards they now have my mobile as well.

Guys, let's be real:  some Movistar employee has sold our details on.

El Profesor

It has surprised me greatly that it is Jazztel. Are you sure?. They are incessantly annoying but usually very upfront about who they are and how they can better anything you have.
They have a policy of aggressive marketing. The guy who bought the company was famous for it, I remember how the shares shot up when he stepped in, I think he did Telepizza or something similar. Really annoying company. I usually get them before they finish the first sentence. - "Jazztel?""Sí señor" - click.

However the call you are describing is illegal, and particularly nasty. I would suggest recording them and informing the police  . . . . .  . .  if you can be bothered that is.
