Perikles

Another typical Guardian article which puts everything into perspective. This kind of article is why the Guardian is so far above anything else in print, even for those who don't like the leftist tendencies.  :great:

Agreed.
Apparently only one third of Guardian readers are in Britain. A third are in the USA and the other third spread around the world.

El Pais is saying that the Spanish priest in Liberia was confirmed with ebola, and that he is being repatriated today to Madrid's La Paz hospital. The plane which will bring him back has already left for Liberia. I hope they're more effective at containing than is the case with their usual efforts at containing anything ...

The question is do they have any serum to give him like the Americans received.  It is an excellent opportunity to try it out on another person.

asking too much, it seems. The WHO has now declared ebola an international health emergency.

The worry is that the Human variant might mutate into a more infectious form now that it has a few hosts to play with.  Imagine Ebola Zaire spread by coughs and sneezes...

There are at least 4 variants of the filovirus already.

It's not politically correct but quarantine of the affected countries should take place immediately.  I see BA has stopped flights but everybody else needs to be made to do so as well.

If the virus mutates as Minesadorada suggests, the ensuing loss of life is simply unimaginable.

The Spanish priest with ebola who was brought back to Spain recently has died, it's just been announced.

Nova

Has anyone else been watching Channel 4's Utopia?  It's made me view the Ebola threat in a far more sinister light :sofa:
If you are always trying to be normal, you will never know amazing.
