And what happened to the UK's anti Ebola measures at the airports?  ::)

Still finding it hard to get my head around this whole supposed world ending epidemic. How on earth can someone just leave the infected area get on public transport and fly halfway around the globe. Stop off at one of the worlds busiest airports, get on another aircraft and casually walk out of the airport at the end destination and go home.

The whole Ebola out break seems to have been one cock up after another with people going to the infected area and then, seemingly, swaning off all over the world with no control or safety measures what so ever. If IS and other extreme terrorist used their heads they wouldn't need explosives just send one of their suicide nutters to catch ebola and then get on an aircraft. Bobs your uncle!!

Or am I missing the point? :undecided:

Absolutely on the money Pelinor!!  I keep asking the same thing.

Nova

I keep asking myself what they're trying to cover up. The powers that be seem to be trying to recreate the original AIDS scare with Ebola and it just isn't working. FFS, ATOS killed more people than Ebola! Letting the odd stray Ebola case into the UK is all part of trying to get those public panic levels up.
If you are always trying to be normal, you will never know amazing.

Good point Nova. The whole panic thing just doesn't add up. The greatest threat to the world blah blah blah! It would seem that the greatest threat to the world from Ebola is its mismanagement by the UN, WHO, Governments and medical helpers who don't seem to have the ability to realise that they themselves are a possible danger to the public.

I know this is something Janet touched on the other day when talking about 'experts' I think in this case the experts have lost all credibility. They seem to be on a sinking boat shouting 'We're doomed, we're all doomed' whilst bailing the boat out using a bucket with no bottom! :undecided:

Janet

is this the first UK confirmed case?

Poor bloody Glasgow though, seems it has taken to having a rotten Christmas ...

No. Because it is media hype, this disease is very easily controlled.
.
And no it is not a government conspiracy, it is good media copy. It is as close as the media can get to reporting on zombies . . . . glamourously gruesome. They give it disproportionate coverage.

But the news reports on the seemingly wild and hysterical comments and statements given out by the UN, WHO and Governments. I agree that the rabid press makes matters worse, especially on a slow news day! But a lot of what they are reporting comes directly from people in authority who should know better?

I must have missed that.

I did see Donald Trump's hysterical tweets asking why Obama hasn't stopped all flights to Africa.

Janet

The WHO is still saying this is a significant risk to humanity and one which is still outstripping any measures to contain it.

Where do they say that?
That surprised me so I had a look at their website and it seems very sensible. They say things like -
Quote"WHO does not recommend any travel or trade restrictions be applied by countries except in cases where individuals have been confirmed or are suspected of being infected with EVD or where individuals have had contact with cases of EVD."

I honestly haven't picked up any irrational hysteria outside of the general media, Donald Trump, Ana Mato and this thread.
