Tenerife taxi app
« on: Sun 7 Oct 2018, 13:31 »
I’ve only found out about this recently but with all the taxis I’m having to get to hospital, physio, etc, this app has been very useful and I’m really impressed with it.

It’s called “1Taxi!” in the appstore and it’s easy to use. It uses the gps on your phone to detect your current location though you can manually select your pickup point and specify your address in the notes section. Then select your destination, the number of passengers and the time you want to be picked up. There’s also a “type of taxi” option where I always select credit card to make sure I get a taxi with a working card reader. Then you just confirm your booking and Bob’s your uncle  :D

It’s not perfect but it’s better than phoning and waiting ages for them to answer and also avoids language difficulties since the app language matches the language of your phone. It does however keep sending notifications while waiting for pickup to say no taxi has been assigned yet, which is usually false, the notification to say my taxi is waiting usually arrives after I’m in the taxi and the pickup point the driver receives doesn’t always match the one you specify, so I recommend always specifying your pickup location in the notes area. But on the whole I think it’s great so I thought I’d share  :tiphat:

I'm pleased to say that during my last 12 month stay in Tenerife I used a taxi once.

TITSA rocks!  :great:

Unless you live in Palm Mar then it sucks. :giggle:
until I return to Tenerife!

Sounds a bit like the Uber system.

I downloaded the app and it sent a message to my phone with the code to verify it.  Backed out of the app, got the code, went back to the app and could find no place to enter it.

I just checked and they sent me an email to the registered address and said to click on the link to verify.  I did and get the old 'server not found'.

Not too sure what's going on but we shall see.

I had problems when I first tried to verify in that each code I received generated an "invalid code" error.  I tried it again the next day and it worked first time.  Maybe enable banner notifications for your messaging app (if that's an option) just for the duration so you can see the code without leaving the app?
