The third running of the cross popular solidario will take place on 19 April. This is a charitable run coordinated and sponsored by Guía de Isora Ayuntamiento, the Hotel Gran Meliá Palacio de Isora, Santisora triathlon club, and Fonteide, among others. Proceeds will go to the needy in the municipality. Inscription is open until 14 April, and costs €10 plus an optional kilogram of non-perishable food. Children can take part, and the cost for their inscription is that kilo of food.

The children's race starts at 4pm on the 19th, while the adults begin at 6pm. There are different circuits, a 5km "rapid" run mainly on the flat starting at the reception of the hotel to Calle La Plaza and ending at Alcalá plaza. This circuit is also doubled for the 10km run. Children, depending on ages, run set distances from 100m.

Prizes donated by the sponsors are 2 nights in the hotel for 2 for the first prize, and 1 night for 2 for the second prize; third prize is a dinner for 2 in Restaurante Pangea. All the information is on the programme HERE; there is also a website HERE. You can also click on the poster above to see it full size. (Please see my website HERE for live links).

Hoping we don't have a calima for it again this year.  Last year it was nearly 30 degrees when we ran - too hot.

Something weird going on.  We got flyers for the race on Sunday which said it was the 4th running of the race.  If you look at the website, it now says 4th as well.  I was convinced it was the 3rd.  Last year's shirt does not indicate which one it was.  All a bit of a mystery.

Have a look at the website though - they've changed it.   Strange.

Good luck to the turtle (& OH?) in this evening's race!  :Woot_Emoticon:

This year's race was better than last year's which was run in nearly 30 degrees.  This year it was around 21 and partly cloudy.  I hunkered down and concentrated on keeping the pace and overtaking unsuspecting youngsters; by the end of the race I had overtaken 12.  Quite a few less than half my age.  For a total non-athlete, it was quite satisfying.

Here's the crazy part:  the race is 5.3km.  Last year I did 34.36.  This year I finished in 29.19, shaving off 5 minutes 17 seconds!!!!!!  WTF??  But digital watches don't lie and OH saw my time on the clock at the finish.

OH could not run due to being generally run down by lack of sleep because of an ear infection.  But he bought me a beer at the finish and had a smile on his face for a change (obviously he was on his 2nd beer and the ear was easing up).
