I can't even find my digital certificate on my computer ... it's on here somewhere but I don't know where it downloaded to, so can't make a backup.

Have you tried the Cortana search facility? it finds most things.

Janet

yes, I have, but it's finding all sorts of stuff with "certificado" in it, and on my computer that's a lot!! ... but not the downloaded file itself.

NAH

Assuming you used Chrome to download it and unless you saved it elsewhere Chrome will have used it's default download location.

The default location (unless you've changed it) is c:\<username>\downloads (where <username> is the username you use to log onto Windows) You can check the location being used by Chrome by following the brief instructions on this page :link:

I have told my new computer in no uncertain terms that I do not want my personal file renamed Downloads, so have had to go through some steps to get it renamed. I now seem to have two folders with the same personal name, but with different icons ... when you look at them, however, they appear to have the same contents.

Neither has this certificate as far as I can see ...

:33:

The problem is that we have no idea what the name of the file is anyway! Nova says she'll help when she's here next ...

Ultimately, if I were in the turtle's position, I'd just go back to the council.

Yeah, back to the Ayuntamiento and I will generate a code no more than 24 hours ahead of time....

It should be installed in the Windows Certificate store.  If so, you can usually export it as a file.

Try this: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-vista/view-or-manage-your-certificates

I'm waiting for my new passport then I'll have a go at getting a certificate from Adeje ajuntamiento.  It looks like a good idea if it all works.

Janet

OK done that ... don't see a Current User option ... but there are TONS of certs. I have no idea what the right one is called!

I HATE COMPUTER STUFF   :33:

I think we're making it all too complicated... it shouldn't be that fiddly  :-X

Ok, Chrome settings.  Scroll down and click advanced settings.  Keep scrolling down to HTTP/SSL.  Click the button "Manage Certificates".  Make sure you are in the "Personal" tab and you should be looking at your certificate.  Select it and click Export to save a copy.  You will be asked to accept some settings for the export.  Save it where you want it.  Done.
