Going digital in Tenerife - officially

It seems there is so much official stuff you can now do online in Tenerife, from tax declarations to changing your contact details with the Seguridad Social and even altas and renewals of the Empadronamiento certificate!  It seems all you need is the firma electrónica and then no more standing around in queues behind the great unwashed population of this fair isle :great:

I have already taken the first step by keying in my details HERE.  This generates a code which I have to take to the cultural centre (or other office of atención al ciudadano) along with my ID and other standard documents in order to verify my identity and activate the code.

According to the website, just a couple of hours after verifying my identity, I should be able to proceed to the next stage of the process HERE and download the digital certificate to my computer.

Once I have done this, the wealth of official processes and rigmarole that characterises Tenerife will be available to me from the comfort of my own computer with a beer in my hand  :D

Let's see if it's as simple as it sounds!  I shall keep you informed of my progress  :tiphat:

Yes, please do.  Would I be correct that you could also take it to your ayuntamiento?

BTW, off topic:  did your driving licence ever come through?

Nova

Yes, you can take the code to wherever you'd normally get your empadronamiento, etc. from, which includes the ayuntamiento  :tiphat:

As you know I went to do the first stage of my driving licence in May last year.  I didn't hear back from them because DVLA never responded so I left it and went back just before Christmas to complete the process.  In the second week of January my shiny new driving licence was handed to me by my friendly post lady!  Yayyy and thank you for your help  :great:

It really is that simple and it works!!!  I called in the cultural centre first thing this morning with my ID.  It took 15 minutes of faffing before I walked out but my code has just worked like a dream and downloaded the digital certificate straight to my computer.  To test it I went to the Seguridad Social website and downloaded my Vida Laboral.  It works like a dream!  I didn't have to put any details in at all, it got it all from the digital certificate and displayed my vida laboral at today's date within a few seconds.  I like it

What is the difference between the 1024 and 2048 codes (other than the obvious) do you need either for specific transactions or will either do for aything? (does that make sense?)

Where are you looking?   :017:

On the 'Request Certificate' page link that you posted you seem to get the option of choosing the key length (1024 or 2048)
