Man drowns off Buenavista del Norte golf course

What an awful start to the year it's been with accidents and deaths, and now another, with the death of a 37-year-old man who drowned on the coast off the Buenavista del Norte golf course at around 2.30 this afternoon. Emergency services were called out with reports that someone was in difficulties in the sea, and a GES helicopter managed to rescue him and get him to the golf course. There they tried to resuscitate him, and their efforts were taken up by paramedics, together with a doctor and nurse from the Los Silos health centre. Sadly, however, they were unable to save him, and were finally able only to confirm his death at the scene. JA

Funnily enough I almost posted in the new Cabildo helicopter thread about seeing the helicopter on its way north around the time of this man's death.  I was hoping I was jumping to conclusions.
