saw it as we were going to the surgery ... nothing in the official reports yet ...

Seen 2 military helicopters flying over St Cruz in the afternoon coming from the south , also convoy of truck and 1 jeep on highway , could be an exercise they did on Teide or somewhere . But strange on a sunday ?

Nova

White and red helicopter tracing the coastline, has passed Palm Mar in the direction of LG and Silencio....

There was a military helicopter flying southbound from the Masca barranco earlier.  The yellow one has just come from the Masca barranco overhead in Puerto Santiago.  Somebody may have been rescued.

At least one helicopter is up.  The yellow gobierno one just flew past Puerto Santiago and Los Gigantes, then hugged the cliffs as it flew toward Teno.

Count your Germans folks.

is that right now, @Myrtle Hogan-Lance or could it have been a quarter of an hour ago?? If so, there was a GES helicopter doing a rescue at Masca right then ... someone with health problems, transferred to the beach, bomberos involved too. No other details but clearly nothing "serious".

Could it have been that one?

edit: this released in the last few minutes of the helicopter landing at the beach ... click to expand

It was up and went by, then I posted.  I watched to see if it flew up the barranco to Masca, but it continued low over the coast.  However, it is unlikely to have been a different helicopter and I did not hear another.  Perhaps it did go to the beach.

Just seen it again, on the way home, flying from Santiago del Teide area across the TF1 towards Adeje ... and as soon as I'm back to my computer I see that it has just rescued a 70-year-old walker who hurt her leg while hiking down Masca barranco.

In this weather, with a Government alert in place for torrential rains in places with stormy conditions.

I hope they charge the silly old fool.

Malteser Monkey

I walked down there in really dry weather, and even then it was very slippy and dangerous. To do it in this weather is insanity.
