Oh no, I'm gutted to miss sodding Zumba  :Woot_Emoticon:

I am sorry I won't make it down for a drink with the Turtles this time but tomorrow really won't be a good day to drive into LG from Palm Mar :(
If you are always trying to be normal, you will never know amazing.

More than 850 runners competed this morning in the half marathon and 10.5km ... I hope the turtle and OH are well and completed with honour! Here are the top runners and their (to me) utterly incredible speeds!

It's been a very warm morning for it - bet it will be a while before Team ChalkCat reports in. Many beers deserved methinks  :beercheers:

Here's the report:  we survived!  My time was about a minute more than last year but better than the year before.  2nd woman in my age group (oh FFS let's be honest:  there were 4), 389/422 in the 10.8k.  I don't give a rat's patootie as long as I am overtaking men and women half my age.  This race is a toughie, make no mistake.

OH, due to the spectacular fall in the garden three weeks ago, went for a finish in the 21 and did a few minutes over what would have been expected.  All in all, not too bad.

The organisers, who always do a superb job, exceeded themselves this year.  The first watering at about 3km had water, not sponges, and that saw me through til around 7km.  Just what was needed because as Nova surmised, it was hot.  The second thing they did was to ban ALL traffic from the route.  In years past they cordoned off one lane for us and in the opposite direction was a long queue of stationary cars containing angry passengers and we had to breathe in all the exhaust fumes.  Not this time, and it was marvellous.

And now I do not have to do this race until the 5th of April 2015, thank goodness.

We missed Nova but a couple of other friends stepped into the breach and several cold beers were happily consumed.

Janet

well well done both of you ... and I think your times are amazing!
