Can I warn you on a week later in the year which will see rain / cloud / wind most of the week, 25th October - 1st November. Holiday makers you have been warned avoid these dates  :03: :tiphat:

well I don't know what it's like on the coast but here in the medianías we have a howling calima ... hard to breathe, trees bent double in gale-force winds! Like an industrial sized hairdryer behind a desert ...

I'm out on my terrace because for now it's still cooler than inside; it's still in the shade as the sun hasn't come round yet.  But the sky is behind a thick veil  and La Gomera is completely invisible - you wouldn't know there were anything there!
If you are always trying to be normal, you will never know amazing.

Wow,as bad as that?

Janet

yes, absolutely howling gale of hot dirty air ...

I just don't understand people who say "ooh goodie" when they're told a calima's coming. I hate them with a vengeance.

Hope it passes quickly.

forecast is for it to start to freshen from Sunday ... they don't normally last more than three or four days, occasionally a week ... rarely a fortnight, after which one tends to get a little bit suicidal ...

Made the mistake of putting towels out to dry on my balcony one calima !  They were turned pink by the sand although they did dry in less than an hour !!!
