That is what it was like around here except there were two panicked Staffies jumping all over the place.  First time I have thought about this:  @Nova are guinea pigs bothered by thunder and lightening storms?  If so how do you deal with it?

Nova, When I come out in Oct/Nov, if we have a storm I will look after you . But you may have to pick me up, as the Buses are rubbish :03:

Piggies just seem to need access to a "safe place".  My first two, Gilbert and Milo, just knew they were safe at home and nothing bothered them, not thunderstorms, not fireworks, not even strangers inside the apartment.  They were home and they knew they were safe.  Archie was terrified of loud bangs.  The first hint of a firework would see him shoot out of his pen and under the sofa and there he'd stay until the next morning.  He never seemed to show any distress as long as he could get under the sofa so when I knew there were going to be fireworks I'd leave the pen gate open so he could go there as soon as he wanted to, but he would clearly have been distressed if I'd kept him inside the pen.

Toby seems to be somewhere in-between.  He isn't usually bothered by anything except my piercing the film lid on a ready meal  :giggle: but last night at the beginning of the storm he ran under the sofa and stayed there.  He was obviously fine under there and when I got out of the shower this morning he was in the pen, standing upright with his hands on the edge of his empty bowl saying "come on then, gimme me breakfast!"  :D

Of course you couldn't fit your staffies under the sofa  :D  and I think it's quite typical of prey animals to just need to run and hide somewhere they feel safe, whereas dogs, as  predatory animals and protective guardians, probably don't have the same defensive instinct and are more likely to feel they need to fight back at the storm and alert their humans to the danger by barking and running round like crazy things....  :D
If you are always trying to be normal, you will never know amazing.

Laughing.  At least you can pierce the film, quietly.  We cannot use our electronic bug zapper outside as the SBTs react as for fireworks.  BATSHIT CRAZY.

We do try to make sure they have access to safe places, which we have created.  But they don't tend to think of that when the moment arrives.  Once, Zebbe managed to lock himself into the bottom of my bathroom cupboard.  He tore apart my sponges and gloves and pissed all over my travel kit.  Then emerged triumphant.

Sounds like your lot are a lot more preferable during storms.

@Delderek, did you know we have new buses and timetables for everyone's convenience?

(I shall say no more.....)

Yes, but consider that I went for a 4 hour walk yesterday in conditions which were almost like the photo, and I got quite sunburnt.  :hmpink:

We've measured 6mm so far.

Penkles why didn't you take OH with you?  He needs to get out of the house.

He mentioned he did 20 km the other day. I had no idea how far I could get, so didn't feel confident going with somebody who can walk twice as far twice as fast. I worked out a route which had no paths, and planned an estimated 3 hours, but did 4 hours because I got lost. That and crippled with cramps on the way back. He would have been bored, waiting for me to catch up. However, I now have a 3-hour circular walk worked out if he is interested. Et tu, Myrtlu? (What's the vocative ending of Myrtle?)

Myrtle Hogan-Lance

No clue Periklu.  My bathroom has to be completed first, no matter what.  He, or both of us, would be very happy to do your route.

Let us speak anon.  Note my lilting accent.
