True - the names Janet calls me are definitely not silly.  :dazed:

A cold front is expected to arrive overnight tonight bringing winds and rain from the north east. The system will remain with us over the weekend and possibly over the coming week, meteorologists think, and be responsible for some squally and rainy conditions, locally intense. The main feature of the front, however, will be the northeast wind, gusting to 90km/h in the medianías and altitude, especially in the southeast and northeast areas of Tenerife.

The weather front which was forecast is already arriving, bringing clouds and high winds ... and very rough seas. Both the Met Office and the Government have issued alerts and warnings for the state of the sea, and are advising of severe costeros. Please take particular care near the coast, and ideally avoid the sea over the next few days.

Waves have been very high on the northern west coast since yesterday.

Taking the dogs out for ablutions around 1800 I met a Scottish couple who left the UK yesterday and were (obviously) missing their dog enormously, so they had to rush over to pet Elvis.  I told them our forecast was a bit down for the next week, 17-19 highs, and they were delighted.  And figured their second week would be even better.

Glass half full/half empty.

The wind is lifting the water off the surface between Los Gigantes and Teno.  I've never seen the like.  It looks like a sandstorm, but it is made of water.  It must be a mile or so wide/long.  Many other littler ones are happening between here and there.  Otherwise, we've had a rainbow today and it's sunny.
