Aemet has now issued a yellow alert for Monday and Tuesday for wind and rain and costeros in north Tenerife. This is likely to be extended or expanded, but the significant factor will be that rough sea, with a swell forecast of up to 5m. Please see HERE for information about "costeros", and the danger they can represent, and about staying safe in the sea here generally.

I'll be sure to pass that advice on.  Don't need anybody getting new cuts and bruises over the old ones.

The alert for high wind and costeros has now been extended to the whole of Tenerife for tomorrow. The seas will be rough. Please take very great care.

There are quite a few waterspouts trying to form off the coast from Los Gigantes.  The wind, which was fierce yesterday, had died down but it is up again.  Currently the Flipper Uno is trying to avoid getting smacked by one.

Last year we had a white Christmas, but this year we'll have calima instead. It's expected to blow in, literally, from later today, and will settle for the week thanks to a large high-pressure system over the mainland. The calima is not expected to be a thick one, thankfully, and it won't bring the dreaded "heatwave" with it: indeed, as happened only a week or so ago, the nights will be really quite chilly.
