How long have they forecast the calima to last? It does look very grey.

Janet

starting to disperse, slowly, from tomorrow ... but this is set to last, with its heat, another few days before it even begins to look "clear".

Janet

just posted this ...

Today is the second of the two main days of this episode of heat and calima, and temperatures should start to fall from tomorrow. Even so, the air won't feel much fresher or cleaner for a few days yet. With the descent starting tomorrow, though, come some rough seas, and Aemet has issued an alert for costeros around the coast of east, west and south Tenerife. The authorities are asking people to pay particular care, with two people already in hospital after nearly drowning yesterday in seas that were really quite calm.

I am really fed up of this heat now  :toohot:  I've caught the sun on my chest just from swimming - first thing in the morning!
If you are always trying to be normal, you will never know amazing.

from my site ...

Aemet is forecasting high winds and rough seas over the next few days, but it's Gran Canaria that has a yellow alert for heat tomorrow. So far, Tenerife is just experiencing an increase in temperatures but without Met Office alert. What Tenerife does have, though, is a Canarian Government forest fire risk alert which was put in place yesterday along with a Cabildo ban on fires in mountain areas. Now, too, Sanidad has issued a red alert for the weekend under the Plan de Actuaciones Preventivas de los Efectos del Exceso de Temperaturas sobre la Salud. This is not a red alert for hot weather, as such, but the public health preventative action plan to help in times of great heat, specifying and coordinating regional, insular and local government measures where there is a risk to public health. The official advice for remaining safe in these weather conditions is in English HERE.
