And whatever we're thinking about weather in Tenerife, think of the mainland, where they are having temperatures near 46º before the heatwave.

It is hot. Very hot. We went to Alcala. We get lunch in the wee cafe across from the Health Centre because they are really nice and serve lovely food. Had a pork loin baguette with onions. Then we went down to the cafe on the front  to get a wee breeze but it was still too hot for me.

Jeez, that's too hot for anyone! How uncomfortable that must be.

Janet

This is what always gets up my nose when people say "bring it on, can't be too hot for me" ... they clearly have absolutely no idea of what it's like to be too hot!

Probably because they sit in an air conditioned bar all day!

I was thinking about going for a boat trip tomorrow.  :undecided:
[countdown=01,06,2021,13,30][/countdown] until I return to Tenerife!

Yup, I was once going to buy an A/C unit, but worked out, definitely cheaper going to a nice bar with A/C. :tiphat:

from my website ...

Thankfully temperatures in Tenerife are not as appallingly high as on the mainland, where 47.3º was recorded in Córdoba yesterday, but they are still high with a minimum 34º expected to be amply exceeded today in most of Tenerife, especially inland. Aemet has also extended the yellow alert to tomorrow, where minimum temperatures of 34º are again forecast for between 11am and 7pm.

The Tenerife Cabildo has therefore reminded people that the problem is often not just one of extreme heat but also of low humidity, and that these conditions are not a matter of "bring it on, it can't ever be too hot" but of potentially life-threatening danger. Indeed, a municipal road maintenance worker died yesterday from heatstroke in Seville, just 140km away from that record-breaking heat in Córdoba. Please see HERE where I've posted this official advice in English

Yesterday the Canarian Government issued a forest fire risk alert because the combination of such high heat and low humidity are the two main factors creating the risk. With the forecast calima blowing in as well, the third factor of high winds create the additional condition for any fire to spread catastrophically. Please see HERE for the official English version of the advice.

Well we'll be landing about 12.30 tomorrow lunch time so know doubt we'll feel the heat as soon as the airplane doors open. Regarding the "bring it on, it can't ever be too hot" mentality, we can't kid ourselves by claiming this isn't the case! The majority of people that holiday or relocate to destinations such as Tenerife do so due to the warmer climate but unfortunately common sense seems to go out the window (probably due to alcohol) once they get there.

We all know that we should cover up and/or use a high factor sun cream, stay out of mid afternoon sun and always stay highlighted but again unfortunately some take the later to mean they can drink plenty of beer! As a result of the beer the precautions tend to get forgotten.

So in my own opinion there is nothing wrong with the heat (unless it is of course 40-50 degrees) as long as you are sensible.

It's actually very overcast here with a cool breeze. Doesn't feel bad at all.
