The big light goes on/ off here in Puerto Colon !!
Bit breezy too at times ,but not over cold ...yet

Yesterday and today we have the return of the trade winds**bringing slightly cooler weather and some cloud, particularly in the north ... but most importantly, pushing back against the currently prevailing calima system from Africa. Apparently tomorrow the calima will return ... but it will rush through probably in no more than a day. They're saying they don't know at the moment what the weekend will be like.


** the "trade winds" are called "los Alisios", and are the prevailing weather direction here for the overwhelming majority of the year. They bring moist cool air, and so keep our temperature stable, stop us overheating from the African systems, and since they come from the North-Northeast, mean that north Tenerife is slightly cooler and cloudier than the south.

It's still cool and cloudy here!  The thermometer on my terrace reads a chilly 22 degrees....

We just had the most horrific gale!!  Thankfully I had wound my toldo in after some earlier warning gusts, but these gusts blew over the garden cupboard on my terrace!!  The poor thing slammed face down, sending an iron patio chair flying and narrowly missing my outdoor sofa. All the shelves needed reassembling and the cupboard will no longer stand up straight. I've managed to stabilise it by shoving a thick cork trivet under one side, but thankfully nothing seems broken. The list of objects I need to retrieve from the garden downstairs is getting longer though 

The gale only lasted a minute or two and now it's calm and still!  Unbelievable!!

Cold wind gusts here also but nothing blown away yet on our patio in Silencio ....
