According to the Met office the EL Nino effect is going to be very active this year, with certain parts of the Pacific already 2 deg above normal. Effects change each time it happens, but its pretty certain that some extreme conditions will be felt in certain areas worldwide.

What a weird - and horribly warm and stuffy - day it's been today!  I took this rather dramatic picture of the sky as I left work.
