From our place ...

I think San Juan won't have a beach, anyway ...  :undecided:

From your place or via webcam or otherwise?

From our place we can see the sea around the beaches of Playa San Juan, Alcalá and Callao Salvaje, all of which show huge semicircles of discoloured water.

Those pictures of Guaza are definitely true. It used to do that often, every storm, until they built those massive drains by the bridge about 18 years ago. They must be blocked.
It used to stay like that for about 2 or 3 days, really annoying it was.

No wind here today.

It has passed the west of the island now.

um ...  :shakehead:

The weather front we were told to expect involved rain from yesterday to this Friday, with today as the worst day. The red alert rains are only just starting ... and they've started here!

Myrtle Hogan-Lance

Yes, it has started again  :03:  We have had another 1.5mm, taking us up to 55.5 for the day so far.

I suspect J & P are right and there are three places missing beaches.  If OH goes to Spanish class this afternoon I will ask him if he can have a look at Callao Salvaje.

The Tenerife Cabildo has said there will be a press conference at 5pm to give an official statement on how Tenerife is being affected by the temporal. Meanwhile the following roads have been closed, either because of water, or damage, or prohibition:

Guaza TF1 junction
Las Américas TF1 junction southbound
TF 66 Las Galletas/El Fraile at PK11
TF28 La Centinela (Arona) at PK85
TF655 Guaza service road
TF 481 Las Américas at PK3 (one carriage only)
Las Cañadas access roads TF21 & TF24
TF 445 Teno
TF 616 Punta Prieta

Meanwhile the Canarian Government has confirmed that the maximum alert remains in place because the heaviest period of rain which caused the red alert is now starting. It is expected to intensify between now and midnight. The Government's Dirección General de Seguridad y Emergencias says that it is considering widening the alert: more on that if or when it's announced.

Binter says many flights affected though there has not been a blanket cancellation. Some European flights also diverted or delayed. Airlines say to check a flight's status before travelling to the airport to fly. JA

Guanche

Just a typical UK rainy day here. Clouds are down and constant light rain no wind to speak of, its fairly bright 18 deg.

Myrtle Hogan-Lance

We are up to 65.1mm.

At the moment, the sky is blue, the sun is blazing, the ocean is blue, and the temperature is 21.5.

Nova

Yet it's calm here now.  The sea is rough with very high spray but the rain has done no more than spot for an hour or so.  I can see sunshine sprinkling onto the sea in the south.
If you are always trying to be normal, you will never know amazing.
