it's all passing as a bit of a damp squib, really. We've had very little bad weather, just cloudy (even if spectacular) and breezy, but La Palma and El Hierro got lots of rain. The Met Office is getting a load of stick really, as is the Government ... but if they say nothing, they then get blamed if there's a downpour!

I was hoping our reporter in El Hierro would bring us some photos

None of the promised stormy weather in Tenerife yet?
If you are always trying to be normal, you will never know amazing.

clearing up nicely today ... bright and breezy, storm on its way out. As some wag said, the Canarian Government has cancelled the storm for lack of rain ...

Aemet's Barcelona Dust Forecast says that a "significant Saharan dust event" is expecte in the Canaries from tomorrow afternoon. Yet another calima, it seems, is coming our way, where "PM10 could exceed 500 ug/m3". Whatever that technical reading means, it sounds as though it could be a thick one.

It means that the density of particles of size less than or equal to 10 micrometres could exceed 500 micrograms per cubic metre. Perfectly simple.  :great:

Janet

yes I understand that! ... but do those measurements mean a thick calima? or a thin one??  ::)

No idea. Other maps show dust load as grams per square metre, which to me is totally meaningless.  :017:

It was raining steadily when I went to bed last night. One step above drizzle.
[countdown=01,06,2021,13,30][/countdown] until I return to Tenerife!
