The weather has stabilized into a lovely late summer but Aemet has issued a yellow alert for costeros today and tomorrow. This will see Force 7 north-east winds make the sea very rough around south, west and east Tenerife, with a swell of up to 5m

it's been a hot few days, though nothing like the calimas we've had lately, but the forecast is for it to cool down significantly from tomorrow ... and this evening I can see a sea of clouds out to the west, can't even see La Gomera let alone La Palma or El Hierro!

Cool is coming!

Just looking at the webcam in Los Cristianos. It's very dull and cloudy.  Looks like it might rain.

same up the hill ... some rain has been forecast for the north, it's the normal cycle following calimas, and we had a few very warm days and now the northerly system comes back. Then they find a balance and we get lovely warm weather with cool breeze ... and then the next calima rolls in. That's been the pattern now for the last several summers.

Todays been the first time theres been a full cover of cloud where we are, we went up to the roof to get a proper look around as we were stuck by;

A: How much further we could see without the haze

B: How closer everything looked without the haze

C: How much clearer we could see everything without the haze

In fact today was the first time we have seen Gran Canaria any other time than dusk.
