We're only just recovering from last week's heatwave when the next is being forecast. Meteorologists think that a new ola de calor (wave of heat) will arrive this weekend, bringing calima and the highest temperatures of the summer so far.  I know people like the sound of a "heatwave" but in places that are already hot, it is a different and sometimes dangerous matter, with temperatures able to rise well into the 40ºs, a level which is comfortable and safe for no-one. Please see HERE for official advice on remaining safe in conditions of extreme heat. No doubt there will be further and more specific forecasts over the next few days.

Nova

It started off feeling fresher this morning but all afternoon it's been so hot and airless!!  I can't stand this!!!

Marion

It feels a bit cooler this evening.

Janet

Forecasts seem to be firming up to show heat increasing over the next few days until the ola de calor arrives in force on Sunday. Currently, temperatures of 40º and more are being considered likely, with the heatwave lasting much if not all of next week.

Marion

It's quite nice tonight at least.

Janet

And the ola de calor said to be the hottest and longest of the year so far is now underway with an Aemet yellow alert for temperatures of 34º in the eastern province. This will certainly be extended in scope over coming days. Meanwhile, please do have a read HERE of the official advice for remaining safe in conditions of extreme heat. This is midsummer in a place that's already hot in its own right: a "heatwave" is not good news as far as public health is concerned.

Michael

I was chatting with my letting agent this morning. He saw 39deg. in Santiago del Teide a few days ago.

What height are you at @Janet ?
[countdown=01,06,2021,13,30][/countdown] until I return to Tenerife!
