As the temperature cools down noticeably today with the return of the trade winds from the north east, so Aemet has advised that the sea will become considerably rougher and issued a yellow alert for costeros in Tenerife this Friday, 30 June, with a NE force 7 wind causing a swell of 4m. Please be careful in the sea over the next several days, especially on Friday, and see HERE too for general advice on staying safe in Tenerife's waters.

And here. One Russian granny and her grand-daughter at the pool and that's it.

I am watching the strangest spray out toward Teno.  It is on the south side of the point, moving toward the west.  Big formations of spray seem to emerge.  I have never seen anything like it.  Like waves, but on top of the water.

Aemet has extended its yellow alert for costeros which now remains in place for the whole of today. Again it is for strong force 7 NE winds bringing a swell in the sea of 4m. Please be very careful in the sea, and see HERE too for general advice on staying safe in Tenerife's waters.

It's not us that need the convincing - it's the tourists nothing can happen to as they're on holiday.

I'm not arguing either way, but do we know how many of the 3 recent drownings in the Los Gigantes were tourists?

Just sayin' like.

can't remember off the top of my head but one stat that's confirmed is that 70% of all drownings here are tourists/visitors.

The above post, though, was just a cut and paste of what's just gone on my website so wasn't meant to be lecturing anyone here  :-X

Don't ask me why this is in the Tenerife weather thread, but for continuity, here's the sequel.  Gianluca went to the beach and I could not take my eyes off his stunning ankle bracelets.
