high winds were forecast for altitude, and the Teleférico's closed as a result, but nothing was supposed to be noticeable below los cumbres ...

 It could get a bit warmer next week, quite a bit warmer, meteorologists say, as a calima starts to arrive on Sunday. The areas most affected are likely to be the south and west, especially in the medianías, with the trade winds giving a bit more protection to the north and east. The firefighter who died left a wife and five kids.  Very sad.

The story's made the Guardian and naturally, there's a German involved.  What a fucking idiot, I hope they throw the book at him.

The German has been sent to jail for three and a half years, too short a sentence in my view but better than nothing.
